HCM aka Saigon Part 2

On our way to lunch!

There were alot of raves on Pho24 on forums and I checked with Jenny (tour guide) on where can we find them. She bought us there for lunch!

Pho is pronounced as ‘fer’. It means noodles.

All of us ordered beef noodles except for bro who ordered broken rice.
I find the noodles not too bad, not really super fantastic.

We love the coffee there! I think I drank more coffee there in 4 days than 1 year in Singapore. Haha.

Bought mangoes from a street vendor.

Vietnam Dong is driving me crazy!

Notre Dame Cathedral

Old Saigon Post Office

Former Presidential Palace

Lacquerware Factory

The lacquerwares are really nice. There are some made of egg shells, some of sea shells and some pure paintings.
All these are done by the handicapped. I’m really amazed at how good they are. And that makes me wonder. Are they so good at all these art because they are poor or they are just good at these things?
I realize alot of lesser developed countries like Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam etc … have got more artistic people.

We didn’t get any but if we already have our apartment I will probably get a set of something.

Kimdo Hotel @ District 1

All our rooms came with 2 single beds and we requested for them to shift it to one queen for us.
One thing about Vietnam, it’s a tipping country. Everything and everyone ask for tips.

We spent quite abit tipping, especially Big Uncle. Hahaha.

Took a short break, showered and ready to hit the streets again! From noon till dinner time was free and easy for us. We did some shopping at the nearby mall.

Kimdo Hotel is at District 1, which is the tourist area packed with shops. It’s like Orchard Road.

There’s alot of Christmas decorations and you won’t believe the human and vehicles traffic till you see the photos.

We went to a nearby shopping mall, bought some toiletries, coffee, clothes and some stuffs from Pet Shop!

Bought our similar tees to0 :)

Took a break at a cafe and enjoyed nice Vietnam coffee.

Their menus are in newspapers form.

You must have a little patience to drink Vietnam coffee because it takes time to filter.

Head back to Kimdo with our shopping bags before going for the Water Puppet Show.

My pink bolster from Pet Shop!

Puppet Show!

The puppet show is rather interesting as it’s on water. It’s really amazing how one can control so many puppets from behind the screen and still have to synchronize the moves with the music.

But our seats were pretty far behind though.
There were some rude AMs behind us and sometimes I really hate these people. But I guess there are always some people who thinks the world of themselves. And they are not just AMs, they are everywhere.

Next up:

Dinner onboard Saigon Cruise

Waited for rather long for the food to come and it wasn’t nice at all!

There’s performance going on and they sang all the dialect songs. The singer noticed Dad and Uncle singing along and she came over with the mic.
That meant  > Tips.

Big Uncle gave her 500K! Which is only around S$40 but Dong 500k is alot to them. S$40+ for tips is quite abit too leh I feel.
This 500k tipping became a big joke throughout the whole trip.

One eerie photo.

Scary huh? Haha.

The highlight of the night.

Some uncle got the girl to lit his cigarette. Somehow I find the uncle a little disgusting. I hope my dad, uncles and hubby don’t end up like this when they are old.

Haha.

Although they might be single or widowed uncles and I should feel that at least they are happy and enjoying their life. But somehow I feel these uncles have wives at home doing housework while they are there enjoying.

Took a walk on the top deck.

The cruise docked at around 9.30pm and we went back to the hotel. We bathed and did some miscellaneous stuffs than everyone gathered in our room for black jack.

We got room service to help us cut the mangoes with tips of course.

Our bets were in millions okay!

All of us went to bed after 2am and rise and shine the next day for Cu Chi Tunnel!
